Recently, I was talking with a potential client about what Life Coaching really is. After a bit she said, “Oh, I get it! A Life Coach is not necessarily smarter, more knowledgeable or even more “together.” They are just looking from a different perspective...
...it's the same as when a person is parked in a really tight spot and someone else is standing outside the car and giving feedback on how much space is available to avoid hitting the other cars and how much the wheel will need to be turned to get it out safely, all from the vantage point of being outside the car. A person's life is like that vehicle and the coach, standing outside of it has a different view than the person who's life it is. Together, they can effectively move her life in the direction she wants to go!”
Wow! That in a nutshell expresses the co-creative, “two heads are better than one” experience of life coaching! We can all do with someone standing outside our lives giving us feedback in times of transition, during those “tight spots” life hands us and when we just want another perspective as we create the lives we love!
